About

Why was this website launched? I launched Finding Waldo during the COVID-19 pandemic in August 2020. Something about the end-of-the-world apocalypse pushed my craving to write new content. As the world now faces unprecedented changes to the status quo in almost every industry, this is the time when entrepreneurs flourish. Fresh ideas and opinions need to be shared.

Where is my content published? In the past, my content has been scattered around the Internet within Medium blogs, LinkedIn updates, Facebook posts and various guests publications on GeekTime and TechCrunch. Now Waldo will serve as my official epicenter of content. Some articles may be published on other platforms.

Why the name Finding Waldo? I had this domain for years – it was originally used to host my side-projects and hackathon projects. For the name, I connected with the needle-in-the-haystack comparison of searching for a unicorn business idea. That’s how it came to be.

Who am I? I left the best for last. I’m Tomer Dean, a tech entrepreneur, fullstack developer, amateur writer, podcaster and live audio host. I was raised in California and currently reside in sunny Tel-Aviv. I’ve been starting businesses since I was 12 years old and never looked back. I’ve spent a large part of my career in consumer, enterprise software, media, SaaS and e-commerce which I love with a passion. I read quite a lot and love deep-diving into business models and ideas. Occasionally I’ll review tech gadgets.
